Double Beef Burger with Smoked Cheddar Recipe

Burgers are a staple for casual meals, but a double beef burger with smoked cheddar elevates the experience. The combination of juicy beef, melted smoky cheese, and fresh toppings creates a bold and satisfying flavor profile. This recipe shows how to prepare a restaurant-quality burger at home.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices smoked cheddar cheese
  • 2 burger buns
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon butter for toasting buns

Instructions

1. Prepare the Patties
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than the bun. Press a small indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

2. Cook the Patties
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or longer for well-done. Place a slice of smoked cheddar on two of the patties during the last minute of cooking and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

3. Toast the Buns
Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides of the buns. Toast them in a skillet or under a grill until golden brown. This adds flavor and prevents the buns from becoming soggy.

4. Assemble the Burger
Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create a simple burger sauce. Spread sauce on the bottom bun. Layer with lettuce, tomato, and a plain patty. Add a cheese-topped patty on top. Finish with red onion slices, pickles, and the top bun.

5. Serve
Serve immediately while the patties are hot and cheese is melted. Pair with fries, sweet potato wedges, or a side salad for a complete meal.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use ground beef with some fat content for juicy patties.
  • Do not press the patties while cooking; it releases juices and makes them dry.
  • For extra flavor, add caramelized onions or crispy bacon.
  • Let cooked patties rest for a minute before assembling to retain juices.

A double beef burger with smoked cheddar combines rich flavors and textures. The smoky cheese complements the savory beef, while fresh toppings add crunch and brightness. This recipe ensures a satisfying, homemade burger that rivals any restaurant version.
