Craving a dessert that combines the best of both worlds – the comforting warmth of apple crumble and the decadence of a tart cake? Look no further than this irresistible Apple Crumble Tart Cake recipe. Perfect for any occasion, this delightful dessert will have your taste buds dancing with joy. Let’s dive into the recipe:

Ingredients:

For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

For the Apple Filling:

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch tart pan or springform pan.
  2. Prepare the Crumble Topping: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Apple Filling: In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until evenly coated. Set aside.
  4. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour and milk, alternating between the two, and mix until just combined.
  5. Assemble the Cake: Spread the cake batter evenly into the prepared tart pan. Arrange the apple slices on top of the batter in a decorative pattern. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, covering them completely.
  6. Bake: Place the tart pan on a baking sheet to catch any drips. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Allow the Apple Crumble Tart Cake to cool slightly before slicing and serving. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Tips:

  • Feel free to customize the recipe by adding chopped nuts or dried fruits to the crumble topping for added texture and flavor.
  • If you don’t have a tart pan, you can use a regular cake pan or pie dish instead, adjusting the baking time as needed.

With its buttery crumble topping, tender cake layer, and juicy apple filling, this Apple Crumble Tart Cake is sure to become a new favorite in your dessert repertoire. Whether enjoyed with a cup of tea on a cozy evening or served at a special gathering, this decadent treat is bound to impress.
