Eclipse Restaurant launches Jazz in the Sky

What’s a better way to unwind at the end of a weekend than relaxing to some jazz? For those who are after a sophisticated lunch experience, there’s a new Sunday lunch in town. Eclipse Restaurant, located on the fifth floor of Hotel Sky Sandton, has launched Jazz in the Sky, providing diners with live performances from the city’s top jazz bands every Sunday afternoon.

Featuring performances from groups like the Marabi Quartet – better-known as The Marabi Club in Maboneng’s resident band that shines a spotlight on talented South African musicians – Jazz in the Sky invites you to drink and dine à la carte as you bask in the carefree atmosphere and relax to smooth, contemporary jazz. For patrons, the atmospheric Eclipse Restaurant boasts a lavish 240-seater dining area, a bar area, an open terrace, a soundstage and a dancefloor. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Jazz in the Sky is sure to draw in the most cosmopolitan of crowds who love to tap their toes to jazz music, funky tunes or soul and R&B.

As you soak in the sounds, delve into a menu filled with Asian and Mediterranean tapas by Eclipse Restaurant’s newly appointed head chef, Ken Phuduhudu – previously of Ethos Restaurant, Test Kitchen, The Greenhouse, Terroir and Glenda’s. The Korean fried chicken wings with a sesame and soy aioli for dipping are a crowd-pleaser, as is the seared marinated salmon served with Roma tomatoes, garlic croutons, olive oil and balsamic emulsion. The venison carpaccio, grilled octopus, fried feta cheese and spanakopita are not to be missed – all while sipping on a line-up of excellent local wines, innovative cocktails and premium beverages throughout lunch. To end on a sweet note, tuck into classic tiramisu, baked cheesecake and berry sorbet or mille-feuille served with roasted strawberries, mascarpone and stone fruit coulis.

If jazz music, delicious food and a cool crowd appeal to you, then it’s time to gather up your friends and family and head to Eclipse Restaurant for a Sunday afternoon to remember. Jazz in the Sky is priced at R100 per person. Lunch is charged in addition to the cover charge.
