Renowned South African self-taught artist Ennock Mlangeni has infused the newly launched NESCAFÉ Room in Sandton City with vibrant and immersive visual art through his extraordinary coffee mural, creating a captivating visual masterpiece for all visitors. The synergy between “The Coffee Artist” and NESCAFÉ is evident in every brushstroke, highlighting Mlangeni’s fresh perspective and unique ability to bring art to life through coffee. This approach offers a new and inspiring way to experience visual storytelling.

This unique artwork, unveiled at the launch on June 5, captures the essence of NESCAFÉ’s “Make Your World” campaign, seamlessly blending Mlangeni’s innovative style with the brand’s rich heritage. The mural not only reflects NESCAFÉ’s commitment to quality and innovation but also pays homage to its longstanding tradition of bringing people together over a great cup of coffee. Mlangeni’s art echoes the brand’s journey from its origins to becoming a beloved household name, symbolizing the shared moments and connections that NESCAFÉ has fostered throughout its history

Ennock Mlangeni, born in Petrus Steyn and raised in the streets of Zamdela, Sasolburg, has become a sensation in the art world for his versatility and creativity. Known for using diverse mediums, including pen, coffee, fridges, and even swimming pools, Mlangeni has made a significant impact with his art. His journey from creating viral portraits, such as the iconic image of the late Winnie Madikizela Mandela, to showcasing his work on international stages, is a testament to his talent and determination.

The mural created by Ennock encapsulates the essence of the “Make Your World” campaign. Utilizing actual coffee in his art, Mlangeni has crafted a rich tapestry of textures that symbolize the transformative power of the brew. The mural portrays a journey of awakening and inspiration, featuring dynamic lines and abstract forms that represent the infusion of energy and creativity in our daily lives. Elements of sustainability are seamlessly woven into the piece, reflecting NESCAFE’s belief in the future of coffee and how it cannot exist without a healthy growing environment.

“Creating this mural was a chance to blend my love for art with my passion for using coffee,” shares Mlangeni warmly. “Each part of the NESCAFÉ mural represents a story of reflection. It’s an expression of how I see the world differently as an artist. Using coffee to bring my vision to life allows me to pause, reflect, and consider how I want the art to be perceived. With this mural, I hope people take a moment to pause and truly take in the experience while at the NESCAFÉ Room.”

Visitors to the NESCAFÉ Room can explore Mlangeni’s stunning mural, a piece that not only beautifies the space but also tells a powerful story of transformation and perspective. The artwork encourages viewers to reflect on their own journeys while savoring the rich flavours of NESCAFÉ coffee.

Carl Khoury, Business Executive Officer for Coffee and Beverages for Nestlé in the East and Southern Africa Region (ESAR), expressed his admiration for Mlangeni’s work, stating, “We are honoured to have Ennock Mlangeni contribute his extraordinary talent to the NESCAFÉ Room. His coffee art reflects the essence of what NESCAFÉ stands for – bringing people together, inspiring new perspectives, and creating moments of connection and joy.”

The NESCAFÉ Room is open to the public until June 30, 2024, at Sandton City Checkers Centre Court, offers visitors a chance to explore and engage with various immersive zones, including the Classic, Cappuccino, and Gold Zones. Each area provides a unique coffee experience, complemented by the interactive touchpoints and the awe-inspiring mural by Ennock Mlangeni while enjoying the Strong yet Smooth Bar, and capturing moments at the Reflective Seat Photo Opportunity.

Visitors have the unique opportunity to personalize their iconic red mug by presenting a receipt from their favourite NESCAFÉ purchase at the mug engraving station.

We invite you to Make Your World by joining and discovering how each cup can awaken your world and inspire cherished moments. Share your experiences online and tag us to spread the inspiration.
