Each year on June 4, the world marks World Cognac Day in honour of the rich heritage and exquisite craftsmanship of this renowned spirit. This year, Bisquit & Dubouché invites you to savour A Story to Sip with your old favourites, explore new ones, and discover a two hundred year legacy that defines every cognac in Bisquit & Dubouché’s collection.
Where Art Meets Craft
In 1799, Alexandre Bisquit was born into a family of distillers in Jarnac, in the heart of the Cognac region. At just 20 years old, he founded Maison Bisquit with a visionary idea to export a new style of cognac worldwide.
His obsession with quality led him to develop a unique distillation method, which remains the cornerstone of Bisquit & Dubouché to this day. Shortly after founding his distillery, Alexandre Bisquit met Adrien Dubouché and they formed a partnership that would forever change the landscape of fine cognac.
Creative, curious and a bohemian at heart, Dubouché’s artistic flair was the perfect counterpart to Bisquit’s practical mind. Together, Bisquit & Dubouché became synonymous with exceptional quality and refinement, producing some of the world’s most sought-after cognacs.
Crafting Excellence: The Bisquit & Dubouché Method
With over two hundred years of heritage, Bisquit & Dubouché prides itself on a signature distillation method, built on the intuition of Alexandre Bisquit and refined over time to amplify the aromatic components at the heart of the distillate.
Double distillation is fundamental to cognac production. The first distillation yields brouillis, which undergoes a second distillation called bonne chauffe. This process extracts the ‘heart’ of the spirit, which is then aged in oak barrels.
Bisquit & Dubouché’s signature method extends the extraction period, obtaining an ‘extra heart’ that’s rich in aromatic components, resulting in a more intense expression and a smoother structure.
