How to Make the Perfect BBQ Chicken Wrap

BBQ chicken wraps are a delicious and convenient meal that combines the smoky sweetness of BBQ sauce with tender chicken, fresh veggies, and soft tortillas. Whether you’re making lunch on the go or preparing a quick dinner, this guide will help you create the perfect BBQ chicken wrap.

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Season your chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat a pan with a bit of olive oil, then cook the chicken over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes per side or until it’s fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F). Once done, shred or slice the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Toss the chicken in BBQ sauce, ensuring every piece is coated evenly.
  2. Warm the Tortillas: Lightly warm the tortillas in a dry pan or microwave for a few seconds. This makes them pliable and easier to wrap.
  3. Assemble the Wraps: Lay the tortilla flat and sprinkle a layer of shredded cheddar cheese in the center. Add a generous amount of BBQ-coated chicken on top of the cheese. Layer on your fresh veggies: lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and avocado slices (if using). Drizzle a bit of ranch dressing if you prefer a creamier wrap, and add an extra spoonful of BBQ sauce for more flavor.
  4. Wrap It Up: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it tightly from bottom to top, ensuring that the ingredients are secure inside. For extra crispiness, you can grill the wrapped tortilla in the pan for 1-2 minutes per side until lightly golden and warm throughout.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Slice the wrap in half and serve immediately with your favorite sides like chips, fries, or a light salad.

Tips for the Perfect BBQ Chicken Wrap: For an extra boost of flavor, marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce or a blend of spices (like paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne) for a few hours before cooking. If you’re short on time, use rotisserie chicken as a quick alternative. Just shred the meat and coat it in BBQ sauce. If you’re not a fan of cheddar, try using mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor profile. For a more intense BBQ flavor, sprinkle a bit of smoked paprika or chipotle powder into the chicken.

A BBQ chicken wrap is highly customizable, allowing you to play with different ingredients and flavors based on your preference. Follow this recipe, and you’ll have a crowd-pleasing, delicious meal in no time!
