Red Velvet Cake is a classic and beloved dessert that has won the hearts of many with its striking appearance and heavenly flavor. With its deep red color, velvety texture, and hint of cocoa, a well-made Red Velvet Cake is a showstopper at any occasion. If you’re ready to embark on a baking adventure and create this enchanting treat, here’s a delightful Red Velvet Cake recipe that will leave you and your guests craving for more:

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • Red food coloring (about 2 tablespoons or as needed)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and vegetable oil. Beat together until well blended. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sugar-oil mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined after each addition.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the white vinegar and red food coloring together until well combined. Add the red food coloring mixture to the cake batter and mix until the color is evenly distributed. Adjust the amount of food coloring to achieve your desired shade of red.
  6. Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops with a spatula.
  7. Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. The cakes should be springy to the touch and slightly pulling away from the sides of the pans.
  8. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the cakes are cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, and beat until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and continue beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  10. Once the cakes have cooled completely, place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a generous amount of cream cheese frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting. For a decorative touch, you can use a piping bag and decorative tips to create swirls or other designs on the cake.
  11. Slice and serve this irresistible Red Velvet Cake, savoring each bite of its moist and tender crumb, the subtle hint of cocoa, and the creamy goodness of the cream cheese frosting.

This Red Velvet Cake recipe is sure to impress and captivate everyone who tastes it. With its vibrant red hue, velvety texture, and delectable flavor, it’s a dessert that never fails to bring joy and satisfaction. So gather your ingredients, don your apron, and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Red Velvet Cake.
