Deviled eggs are a classic appetizer, perfect for parties, brunches, or simple snacks. Creamy, tangy, and flavorful, they are easy to prepare and can be customized with different seasonings or toppings. This deviled eggs recipe provides a reliable method to create perfectly smooth filling and beautifully presented eggs.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, for garnish
  • Optional toppings: chives, pickles, or crispy bacon bits

Instructions

1. Boil the Eggs
Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove eggs and transfer to a bowl of ice water. Let cool for 5 minutes.

2. Peel and Halve the Eggs
Gently crack the eggs and peel under running water to remove the shell easily. Slice each egg in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks, placing them in a small bowl. Set the whites aside on a serving plate.

3. Make the Filling
Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and vinegar or lemon juice. Mix until creamy and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Fill the Egg Whites
Use a spoon or piping bag to fill the hollowed egg whites with the yolk mixture. Try to create a smooth, even layer for a neat presentation.

5. Garnish
Sprinkle paprika over the filled eggs for color and mild flavor. Optionally, add chives, pickles, or crispy bacon bits for extra texture and taste.

6. Serve
Arrange the deviled eggs on a serving platter. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use eggs that are a few days old; they peel more easily than very fresh eggs.
  • For extra creamy filling, add a teaspoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  • Experiment with flavors like smoked paprika, sriracha, or curry powder for variety.
  • Chill the eggs before serving to maintain texture and flavor.
