1. Classic Vanilla Layered Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line two 20 cm cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  4. Mix in vanilla extract. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour.
  5. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Test with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  6. Cool completely before assembling.

Frosting: Classic Buttercream

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. Beat butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well.
  3. Add vanilla and milk, adjusting consistency.
  4. Frost the cake between layers and on the top and sides.

2. Chocolate Layered Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C and prepare two 20 cm cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine dry ingredients.
  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water until smooth. Batter will be thin.
  5. Pour into pans and bake 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.

Chocolate Frosting:

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Beat butter and cocoa until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar gradually, alternating with milk.
  3. Frost between layers and coat the cake.

3. Strawberry Shortcake Layers

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • Whipped cream for filling and topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and prepare two 20 cm cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
  3. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk.
  4. Bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  5. Slice strawberries and fold a few into whipped cream for filling.
  6. Frost and layer the cake, topping with remaining whipped cream and strawberries.
