Johannesburg’s wine culture is evolving, and the MATH Wine Club is leading the charge. At MATH Restaurant, every gathering is shaped with intention, where taste, company, and memorable moments converge seamlessly. The Wine Club brings this ethos to life through curated monthly experiences that connect winemakers, enthusiasts, and the city’s creative community. Each event emphasizes exploration, storytelling, and communal enjoyment, making wine appreciation accessible to everyone. The next edition on Thursday, 26 March, promises an evening of discovery, welcoming Spier Wines and pairing their exceptional selection with an exclusive four-course menu. With its combination of heritage, innovation, and thoughtful curation, the MATH Wine Club is redefining how Johannesburg experiences wine. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in an atmosphere where every pour becomes an opportunity to connect and celebrate craftsmanship.

The upcoming MATH Wine Club evening features Spier Wines, one of South Africa’s oldest and most respected wine farms. Founded in 1692 in Stellenbosch, Spier is known for producing wines rooted in sustainability, quality, and heritage. The event will showcase a selection of Spier’s iconic wines, each thoughtfully paired to complement a specially crafted four-course menu. Guests will enjoy the balance of tradition and innovation, as each pairing highlights both the wine’s character and the skill of MATH’s chefs. Beyond tasting, the evening offers insight into the farm’s philosophy: good wine from good people, grown in good soil. The experience emphasizes education and discovery, making each pour a lesson in flavor, terroir, and winemaking. By combining exceptional wine with considered cuisine, the MATH Wine Club delivers a multi-sensory celebration of South African wine culture.

The MATH Wine Club aims to make wine culture inclusive, welcoming both seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers. Each event is designed as a space for connection, conversation, and shared experiences. Puleng Mathabathe, Founder of MATH, emphasizes that the club is an extension of the restaurant’s ethos, “When We Gather,” creating moments where curiosity, culture, and community intersect. Storytelling plays a key role, with winemakers sharing insights about their craft, adding depth and context to every tasting. The club prioritizes communal enjoyment over exclusivity, fostering an environment where learning about wine is as engaging as sipping it. Guests leave with not only refined palates but also meaningful connections with people who share their passion for wine.

The next MATH Wine Club takes place on Thursday, 26 March at Waterfall Corner, Midrand, with guests welcomed from 18:00 for an 18:30 start. Seating is limited to maintain an intimate and focused experience. Early booking is recommended to secure a place at the table. Tickets for the evening are available via Dineplan here. Interested guests can also join the Wine Club mailing list for future events and updates here.

The MATH Wine Club is transforming Johannesburg’s wine scene by blending heritage, craftsmanship, and community. Through curated events with renowned producers like Spier Wines, guests experience more than just wine—they enjoy storytelling, education, and meaningful connection. The focus on thoughtful pairings, quality ingredients, and intentional gatherings ensures every event is memorable. By making wine culture accessible and inclusive, MATH invites enthusiasts of all levels to explore, learn, and enjoy. Each tasting is designed to foster appreciation while encouraging social interaction and engagement. With limited seats and carefully planned experiences, the Wine Club ensures intimacy and attention to detail at every gathering. Ultimately, the MATH Wine Club elevates Johannesburg’s wine culture by offering a refined, approachable, and communal experience that celebrates both wine and the people who enjoy it.
