Easy Chicken Wraps Packed with Colour Crunch and Fresh Flavour

Chicken wraps are one of the easiest ways to turn simple ingredients into a satisfying meal that works for lunch, dinner or a quick meal on the go. They combine tender chicken with fresh vegetables, creamy sauces and soft wraps to create plenty of flavour and texture in every bite. The best chicken wraps are not complicated, and you can prepare most of the ingredients ahead of time to make busy days easier. Colourful vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, peppers and red cabbage add freshness and satisfying crunch. Different marinades and sauces can completely change the character of the meal, allowing you to enjoy chicken wraps without feeling like you are eating the same recipe repeatedly. These recipes include creamy, spicy, fresh and boldly seasoned combinations that can be adapted to suit different tastes and whatever ingredients you already have at home. Whether you are packing lunch for work, preparing a family dinner or looking for an easy way to use leftover chicken, these chicken wrap recipes offer plenty of inspiration.

What Makes a Great Chicken Wrap

A good chicken wrap needs a balance of textures and flavours. The chicken should be well seasoned and tender, while fresh vegetables provide crunch and moisture. A creamy or tangy sauce helps bring everything together and prevents the wrap from tasting dry.

The type of wrap also matters. Large flour tortillas are flexible and easy to roll, while wholewheat wraps add a slightly nutty flavour and work well for a more substantial lunch. Flatbreads can also be used when you want a softer, more rustic wrap.

When assembling a wrap, avoid adding too much filling because an overloaded tortilla is difficult to roll and can split. Place the ingredients slightly below the centre of the wrap, fold the sides inward and roll it firmly from the bottom. If you are packing the wraps for later, keep particularly wet ingredients such as tomato or dressing separate when possible.

1. Classic Chicken and Crunchy Salad Wraps

This simple chicken wrap is a reliable choice for weekday lunches and family dinners. Tender chicken is paired with crisp lettuce, cucumber, carrot and tomato, while a creamy yoghurt dressing adds freshness.

Ingredients

  • 500 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large flour or wholewheat wraps
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced

Creamy Yoghurt Dressing

  • ½ cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

Season the chicken with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, mixed herbs, salt and pepper. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for approximately five to seven minutes per side, depending on thickness, until cooked through. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing it into thin strips.

Mix the yoghurt, lemon juice, honey and garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

Warm the wraps briefly in a dry frying pan or microwave to make them more flexible. Place lettuce in the centre of each wrap and add carrot, cucumber, tomato and red onion. Top with sliced chicken and spoon over the yoghurt dressing.

Fold the sides towards the centre and roll tightly from the bottom. Cut in half and serve immediately.

2. Peri Peri Chicken Wraps

These wraps are perfect for anyone who enjoys bold South African-inspired flavours. Spicy peri peri chicken is balanced with creamy avocado, crunchy cabbage and a cooling yoghurt sauce. You can increase or reduce the chilli according to your preference.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons peri peri sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large wraps
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh coriander

Cooling Sauce

  • ½ cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

Combine the chicken with peri peri sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Leave to marinate for at least 20 minutes.

Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until browned and completely cooked through. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Mix the yoghurt, lemon juice, coriander and honey together. Season to taste.

Warm the wraps and add shredded cabbage, grated carrot, avocado, tomato and red onion. Place the peri peri chicken on top and spoon over the cooling sauce. Add fresh coriander before folding and rolling the wraps.

3. Honey Mustard Chicken and Apple Wraps

Sweet apple, crunchy vegetables and savoury chicken create a fresh combination in this easy wrap. Honey mustard dressing provides a sweet and tangy flavour that works particularly well with grilled chicken. This recipe is ideal for packed lunches because it feels light while still being satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large wraps
  • 1 crisp apple, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese

Honey Mustard Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Method

Rub the chicken with olive oil, thyme, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook in a hot frying pan until golden brown and completely cooked through. Allow the chicken to rest before slicing.

Mix the mayonnaise, yoghurt, honey, Dijon mustard and lemon juice until smooth.

Warm the wraps slightly and place lettuce, carrot, cucumber and apple slices in the centre. Add sliced chicken and grated cheddar. Drizzle with the honey mustard sauce.

Fold the sides inward and roll tightly. Serve immediately or wrap securely for lunch.

4. Mexican Chicken and Bean Wraps

These colourful wraps combine seasoned chicken with black beans, sweetcorn, fresh vegetables and creamy avocado. The beans make the filling more substantial while adding another source of protein and fibre. A squeeze of lime or lemon brings all the flavours together.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breasts, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup sweetcorn
  • 4 large wraps
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • Fresh coriander

Avocado Lime Sauce

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • ½ cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

Season the chicken with cumin, smoked paprika, chilli powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and cook the chicken until browned and completely cooked through.

Add the black beans and sweetcorn and cook for two to three minutes until heated through.

Blend the avocado, yoghurt, lemon or lime juice and garlic until smooth. Season to taste.

Warm the wraps and add lettuce, red pepper and tomato. Spoon over the chicken and bean mixture and add avocado sauce. Finish with grated cheddar and fresh coriander before rolling.

5. Mediterranean Chicken and Feta Wraps

Mediterranean flavours work beautifully in a fresh chicken wrap. Juicy tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, feta and herbs provide colour and freshness, while the seasoned chicken makes the meal more substantial. A simple garlic yoghurt sauce brings everything together.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large wraps
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta
  • ¼ cup sliced olives
  • Fresh parsley

Garlic Yoghurt Sauce

  • ½ cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

Combine the chicken with olive oil, oregano, paprika, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Leave to marinate for 20 to 30 minutes.

Cook the chicken in a hot frying pan or on a grill until golden and completely cooked through. Rest for five minutes before slicing.

Mix the yoghurt, garlic, lemon juice and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.

Warm the wraps and fill them with cucumber, tomatoes, red onion and olives. Add sliced chicken, feta and parsley. Drizzle with garlic yoghurt sauce before rolling.

6. Crispy Chicken and Slaw Wraps

These wraps provide plenty of crunch and are a great way to make a casual dinner feel more interesting. Crispy chicken pairs particularly well with fresh cabbage and carrot slaw. A creamy tangy dressing adds enough moisture without overwhelming the crunchy filling.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breasts
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for shallow frying
  • 4 large wraps
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced

Slaw Dressing

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

Cut the chicken into thin strips. Place the flour in one bowl and season with paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Beat the egg in a second bowl and place the breadcrumbs in a third.

Coat each chicken strip in seasoned flour, dip into the egg and then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

Heat a thin layer of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the chicken in batches until golden and completely cooked through. Drain on kitchen paper.

Mix the cabbage, carrot and red onion. Combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey and mustard and season to taste. Toss the dressing through the vegetables.

Warm the wraps and add the slaw followed by crispy chicken. Roll tightly and serve while the chicken is still crisp.

7. BBQ Chicken and Avocado Wraps

A smoky barbecue chicken filling makes these wraps particularly family-friendly. Creamy avocado and crunchy lettuce balance the sweetness of the barbecue sauce. This recipe is also a convenient way to use leftover roast chicken.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breasts or cooked shredded chicken
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 large wraps
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup sweetcorn

Method

If using raw chicken, season it lightly and cook in a frying pan with olive oil until completely cooked. Slice or shred the chicken and return it to the pan.

Add the barbecue sauce and stir over low heat for two to three minutes until the chicken is thoroughly coated. If using leftover cooked chicken, simply heat it gently with the sauce.

Warm the wraps and add lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado and sweetcorn. Spoon the barbecue chicken over the vegetables and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.

Fold the sides inward and roll tightly from the bottom. Serve immediately while the chicken is warm.

8. Creamy Chicken and Avocado Wrap

This simple wrap is ideal when you want a creamy filling without a heavy sauce. Chicken, avocado and yoghurt create a smooth base while cucumber and lettuce add plenty of freshness. It is quick enough for lunch and easy to prepare ahead.

Ingredients

  • 400 g cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • ½ cup plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 4 large wraps
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cucumber, diced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley or coriander

Method

Mash the avocado in a bowl until mostly smooth. Add the yoghurt, lemon juice, Dijon mustard and garlic. Season with salt and black pepper.

Fold the shredded chicken into the avocado mixture. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Warm the wraps slightly. Add lettuce, cucumber, carrot and red onion before spooning the creamy chicken mixture over the top. Sprinkle with fresh herbs.

Roll the wraps firmly and cut them in half before serving.

How to Make Chicken Wraps Ahead of Time

Chicken wraps are particularly useful for meal preparation because the main ingredients can be cooked in advance. Prepare a batch of seasoned chicken and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Wash and chop vegetables ahead of time, but keep wetter ingredients separate so that the wraps remain fresh.

Sauces and dressings should ideally be stored in small containers rather than spread over the wraps several hours before eating. This is especially important when using yoghurt, mayonnaise or tomato-based sauces. Add the sauce just before serving if you want the tortilla and vegetables to retain their texture.

Cooked chicken should be cooled and refrigerated promptly. When reheating chicken, heat it until steaming hot throughout and avoid repeatedly reheating the same portion. Fresh avocado is best sliced just before eating because it can discolour and lose its texture after prolonged storage.

Easy Ingredient Swaps

One of the best things about chicken wraps is how easily they can be adapted. Chicken breasts can be replaced with boneless thighs, leftover roast chicken or shredded chicken from a previous meal. You can also swap the chicken for cooked beans, chickpeas or eggs when you want a meat-free option.

Vegetables can be changed according to what you have available. Shredded cabbage, spinach, rocket, lettuce, grated beetroot, cucumber, peppers and carrots all work well. If you have leftover roasted vegetables, they can also become an excellent wrap filling.

The sauces provide another opportunity to create variety. Use peri peri sauce for heat, hummus for a creamy savoury flavour, sweet chilli sauce for sweetness or tzatziki for a fresh Mediterranean-style filling. Even a simple mixture of plain yoghurt, lemon juice, garlic and herbs can make a basic chicken wrap taste completely different.

How to Keep Wraps Fresh and Crunchy

The order in which you assemble a wrap can make a noticeable difference to its texture. Start with a layer of lettuce or another leafy vegetable because it creates a barrier between the tortilla and wetter ingredients. Add chicken and other solid fillings next, then place tomatoes, cucumber and sauces towards the centre.

Avoid overfilling the tortilla because too much moisture and weight can cause it to split. If you are packing a wrap for later, consider placing the sauce in a separate container and adding it immediately before eating.

Wrap finished tortillas tightly in reusable food wrap or baking paper and refrigerate them until needed. If you are making wraps for a packed lunch, keep them chilled with an appropriate cold pack until they are ready to eat. These small preparation steps can help preserve the colour, crunch and fresh flavour that make chicken wraps so enjoyable.

Easy chicken wraps are a practical way to combine tender protein, colourful vegetables and fresh sauces in one convenient meal. The recipes show how a simple chicken filling can take on completely different flavours depending on the spices, vegetables and dressing you choose. From spicy peri peri chicken and creamy avocado to Mediterranean feta, crispy chicken and smoky barbecue flavours, there is plenty of variety to keep your weekly meals interesting. Preparing chicken, vegetables and sauces ahead of time can also make wraps one of the easiest options for busy lunches and quick family dinners. Simple ingredient swaps allow you to use leftovers and seasonal produce while reducing food waste and keeping grocery costs manageable. Good assembly is just as important as the filling, so keeping wet ingredients controlled will help your wraps stay fresh and crunchy. With a few dependable ingredients and these easy recipes, you can create colourful, satisfying chicken wraps that are simple enough for everyday meals and delicious enough to look forward to.
